# Linen fabric,
*woven on our own looms.*

Linen and linen-blend fabric is our flagship product. We weave it in-house in solids, stripes, checks, dobby figures, and jacquards — across standard and wide-width constructions, in pure linen and in blends with cotton, silk, viscose, and lyocell.

For the equipment and supply chain detail, see [manufacturing capabilities](https://govardhan.net/capabilities).

## Constructions

### Solids

Plain, twill, and satin-weave constructions. Available in pure linen and in cotton-linen, linen-viscose, linen-lyocell, and linen-silk blends. Raw bleached (white), raw natural, natural, and dyed states.

### Yarn-dyed stripes and checks

Stripes, checks, and heritage patterns woven with pre-dyed yarn. Yarn dyeing happens through certified subcontracted facilities under our scope before the yarn reaches our loom shed. The colour is locked into the yarn, so yarn-dyed fabrics don't fade the way piece-dyed goods do.

### Dobby constructions

Structured weaves — herringbones, chevrons, diamonds, geometric figures — produced on our dobby-equipped looms. Dobbies are where natural fibres show their character: the structural variation catches light differently than a plain weave.

### Jacquard constructions

Figured fabrics with large repeat sizes for home textiles, drapery, and high-end apparel. Linen jacquards, cotton-linen jacquards, and linen-silk jacquards are all part of our standard range. Jacquards require programme development time — we work with you on design and sampling.

### Brocades

Heavy figured fabrics on jacquard looms — typically used for ceremonial home textiles, heritage upholstery, and statement interior applications.

### Value additions

Prints, embroidery, and specialty finishes are handled through certified subcontracted partners as part of our extended supply chain. Discuss requirements at [contact](https://govardhan.net/contact).

## Widths

- **53"** and **58"** finished — common apparel widths
- **61–64"** greige — standard single-width off our 190 cm Dornier looms
- **118"** wide — double-width for home furnishing
- **122"** greige — ultra-wide on our Dornier PTV 6/8 J (340 cm working width). A single uncut width eliminates seams for drapery, tablecloths, and bed linens.

Intermediate widths possible through reed selection and warp planning.

## Weight range (GSM)

- **~100–150 GSM** — fine apparel. Shirting, dress fabric, lightweight blouses.
- **~150–250 GSM** — mid-weight. Heavier apparel, lightweight home textiles, curtain linings.
- **~250–400 GSM** — home textile. Drapery, duvet covers, mid-weight upholstery.
- **~400–700+ GSM** — heavy furnishing. Heavy upholstery, industrial, utility.

We can quote off our standard library or develop a custom construction against your target GSM and end use.

## Custom development

A significant portion of our production is custom constructions developed with specific customers — bespoke weight, count combinations, colour programmes, blended ratios, or jacquard figures. We have an in-house design function and a development workflow that starts from a customer brief, goes through sampling, and ends with approved production programmes.

Custom development typically takes four to eight weeks from brief to approved first sample.

## Certification

All of the above constructions can be supplied under:

- **GOTS** — for organic cotton-flax blends and certified linen
- **OCS** — for organic content claims
- **GRS** — for recycled polyester content in blended constructions
- **OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100** — baseline human-ecological certification across the full scope
